Are You Prepared to Answer?
We plan and learn how to protect ourselves and
our loved ones from physical harm as well as from financial ruin and
other potential disasters, which is good and right to do. In fact, there
are many things we plan in order to know what to do in case of
emergency. As we affirmed, this is good and we should probably do even
more. Yet I wonder how many of us would know what to do and be ready to
do it if a loved one, or even a stranger for that matter, were to
approach us at death’s door desperately wanting to know how to come to
know Christ as Savior. Would we have the correct Biblical answer? We
have this very situation recorded, in the always exciting account of the
history of the early church in the Book of Acts, chapter 16, where the
Philippian jailor at the point of taking his own life, then realizing
his lost condition, cried out asking what he must do to be saved. If
someone were to come to you, at the point of death asking how to be
saved, what would you say to him?
The Bible teaches us that the
only way to be saved is through believing the Gospel, the Good News of
Jesus Christ, so there is no more important thing for us to have than an
understanding of this Gospel! Our opinion, or any other man’s opinion
on this most important question of what one must do to be saved is less
than worthless. One needs the genuine Gospel, not a substitute, as Paul
points out- there is no substitute (1 Corinthians 15:3-4 and Galatians
1:6-9)!
In order to be prepared in the face of death (as well as
life) to tell an eternal soul how to be saved, we have some excellent,
free Bible courses in the BBN Bible Institute that teach how to do this!
Being prepared for protection from physical or financial ruin, as
important as these considerations are, pale in comparison to protection
from eternal ruin, and this is exactly what the Gospel is, as well as
truth for life right here and now! Some excellent courses to consider in
the BBN BI are 00400, Understanding the Gospel and 10600, The Doctrine of the New Birth.
We trust you will make this most important preparation, as well as
share the news with your friends; you never know when you might need it!
