Sitting in my office, my attention was seized by sirens. Looking out my window I saw lights flashing, medics and police officers surrounding a body lying in the street. Was it the end of a life? Will he or she spend eternity in heaven? One instant can change everything. Truly every one of us is one breath away from eternity!

Often a person doesn’t get a last chance to consider if they are ready to meet God. That is a question we must answer now before our time is cut off by accident, sickness, or time. Have you yet realized you are a sinner in the eyes of the holy God of heaven? Do you know there is only one way you can be right with Him?  It is not by helping people, membership in some church, or being better than others. So many have never heard that God’s standard is perfect righteousness. Truthfully, none of us can legitimately meet His standard.

This is why God sent His son Jesus to our world. God, in human flesh, come to die in our place and to pay our sin debt (death).  God raised him from the dead and He provides the righteousness that none of us can offer. Jesus said of himself: “I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man comes to the Father, but by me.”  God’s word specifies that we must believe what God says about Jesus and then call out to Him for His gift of salvation.

    “If you will confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and will believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
     For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation... For whoever will call upon the name of the Lord, will be saved.”
