I remember the sad account of a young lady who went to visit a pastor and as they talked, she cried out in desperation, but, pastor, I CANNOT love! This dear lady was brought up in a home in which she was shown very little if any love from her family. The Bible teaches us that we believers can only show love because God in Christ has first loved us. We as fallen sinners are incapable of producing genuine love as God gave to us in Christ unless we first receive God’s love to us. No wonder our world is so full of hate and discord, it is filled with sinners who have rejected God’s love and therefore are not able to love one another.

Yet into this cold and cruel world of sin, the Lord sent His Son who was so full of love that He cried out as we were crucifying Him for His Father to forgive us! (See Lk.23:34) This lost and dying world needs to see and experience the love of God desperately, and those of us who have received the grace of God in Christ can let Christ in us flow from our deeds to the lost.
