Seasoned Saints
I don't know about you, but my favorite season of the year is Autumn, with Spring running a close second. My favorite sports season is baseball, with football running a close second. But there is one thing that never goes out of season and that is the study of God's Word! Paul instructed Timothy to be ready to preach a sermon at the drop of a hat as we sometimes say (2 Timothy 4:2).
If you were to come upon someone about to take their last breath and they wanted desperately to know how to face eternity, could you tell them? The psalmist told us how, and that is to study the Word of God when it is convenient. Paul said it another way: "in season and out of season." This implies when it is day and when it is night, when it is convenient and inconvenient. We should make the study of God's Word our delight, and we will have no trouble being prepared in or out of season because we have it in our hearts through diligent study.
There are some things that take work, but don't produce much fruit either in this life or eternity. Then there are other things that take much work, but they produce lasting fruit, both now and forever. The greatest example of this is the study of God's Word which produces Godliness (1 Tim.4:8). We have the answer to the need of studying God's Word, and that is our free online Bible Institute at BBNBI.org. Study it in and out of season, and become a seasoned saint that can bring eternal, spiritual treasures from both the Old and New Testaments for those in need (Matthew 13:52). Once you have found this great free resource, why not share it with your friends?
