Holiness in Hours of Heartlessness

Holiness
in Hours of
Heartlessness
“In those days there was no king in Israel, but every man did that which was right in his own eyes…” “For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers... fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors... lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof…” (See Judges 17:6; 2 Timothy 3:1-5) Madmen shooting people in cold blood, filming it, then posting the video on social media. Heartless people walking calmly into crowded movie theaters and gunning down multiple victims. People walking into schools and killing innocent children. Do these times sound familiar? Jesus Himself described a coming time of unparalleled wickedness and slaughter with similar terms, adding that the love of man will wax cold. Yet, in the midst of anarchy and wickedness run amuck and no king ruled in Israel, there was a family that out of loss and pain who became a picture and even a prophecy of the very Lord Jesus Himself! You probably have already figured out that I’m speaking of the little but powerful Book of Ruth, in which we find some of the most amazing truths in all the Word of God! If you’d like to learn more, we offer a great little course on Ruth in the BBN Bible Institute, 40900 Ruth.
When you’re tempted to look around and become discouraged by the evil in our world, look in God’s Word and find the right perspective once again that can bring joy that comes from Jesus rather than seeking after mere happiness that comes and goes with your circumstances. May the Lord bless you; oh, and if you get a blessing from this course, please tell your friends and encourage them!
