Something’s Missing...
|
If you know the Lord jesus Christ as your Savior, and there has been a time in your walk with Him that you have spent precious time in His Word, you know the joys of such communion. But we all know that life is sometimes hard and always busy it seems, and there come those times in which we may become so busy that without even realizing it our time in God’s Word may become crowded out. At first we may not even think about it because of all the busyness that consumes our time, but there will come a time that our own spiritual life will suffer to the point that it even comes to affect our emotional and even physical makeup! Just as the Lord’s chastening of David after his sin affected him physically, so does the neglect of spending time in our God’s Word. What should we do when this realization comes to us? maybe it would be helpful to see David’s own testimony in God’s Word concerning this! “When I kept silence, my bones waxed old through my roaring all the day long. For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me: my moisture is turned into the drought of summer. Selah. I acknowledge my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.” (Psalm 32:3-5) The Lord did not further chastise His child when he simply turned back to Him in simple repentance and faith, He abundantly pardoned David! Also, verse 8 of that Psalm reveals something even more beautiful from David’s heart concerning the Lord! “Thou art my hiding place; Thou shalt preserve me from trouble; Thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.” In other words, the Lord blessed David far more than he could have even dreamed to ask from the Lord! Maybe you have gotten away from a close and intimate time that you once had with the Lord in His Word, and you now realize that. Would the Lord not do for us what He did in David’s life when he simply acknowledged his need and returned to the Lord? The question answers itself! Certainly He would! What better way to begin that precious time with the Lord once again than with the free BBN Bible Institute? Maybe you once were studying in the BI but life just took you away from it and now you want to return. Perhaps you’ve never had this time in the Word, but would like to begin.
