I Am Persuaded!
|
If someone says to us that they believe a
certain thing will occur, we detect a hint of doubt in their words.
But if someone says they are persuaded that a thing will occur, this
seems more certain. Yet, in actuality both to believe as well
as to be persuaded means the same thing in the Bible. We
either believe something or we don't. This can be important or
relatively unimportant according to the content of the
belief.
Believing is also related to the trustworthiness of the
one to be believed in. For example, a man can be honest yet mistaken, and mislead us unintentionally. Also a man can be a liar and
deceiver and mislead us purposefully, yet we know that the Lord can
do neither of these since He cannot lie. (Titus 1:2) So, when the Lord
tells us something in the Scriptures, we can absolutely bank on it to
be true.
One of the sad realities of the Christian Church is
believers who are lazy or unmotivated to work for their Savior
because of all He has done for them. Dr. Earl Radmacher, instructor
for the BBN BI course number 51700, Sonship Versus Discipleship
makes the statement that the message of the Gospel of the grace of
God is to believe. He then goes on to add, the more we
believe the more we will be able to do! So, once we become
persuaded of our salvation in Christ, we then are able to do
unlimited good as believers through the Spirit who empowers us and
the truth that we believe! Dr. Radmacher reminds us of the
highly-motivating truth that the Gospel is Good News
and that believing it frees us to do the good works that God intends
for us to do! (Eph.2:8-10)
We trust that many will be motivated to
take this course, persuaded that they have eternal life in Christ and
be freed to do the good works that the Lord has planted in their
hearts!
