Beginning in chapter 14, we begin a story of the last Sabbath day in the ministry of Jesus that covers this and the next few chapters. Our Lord was constantly trampling underfoot the conventions of men and violating the false sanctions they had built around the Sabbath. Jesus came into the world principally for construction, but in the process of construction, He had to do destructive work.
