Angels Among Us?
A believer in Christ, even a minister of the Gospel had gotten so discouraged in the work, that he had gotten into his car and begun to ride out in the country, and as he did the burden was so heavy that he simply pulled over and began to weep. As he sat there in his car crying out to God, he later reported that he felt a calming Presence in the car with him, and words to a now well-known hymn, My Wonderful Lord began to form in his mind. We who also know the Lord can likely relate to this account, as there are many times in walking through this Christ-rejecting world-system, we become discouraged as well. Our loving Lord reaches out to us when we hurt and His Spirit within us often calms and guides us to be a greater influence for Christ in them.
This account of the Lord ministering to the heart of a hurting believer also brings to mind the concept of angels among us as the Scriptures also clearly teach their existence and their ministry. This also brings to mind the fact that the world itself has spoken and written many things about angels, much of which is not found in Scripture, but actually contradicts what is there. How do we separate the good from the bad, the helpful from the destructive? The answer is simple, go to the true source, Scripture itself!
