WORTH YOUR ATTENTION
WORTH YOUR ATTENTION

Benjamin Franklin once attended a meeting in Paris, France with the Literary Society.  Each attendee was asked to bring an excerpt of literature that they esteemed as exceptional and read their selection before the society fellows.  Each read their selection and then Franklin read his.  He did not tell them that his reading was from the Bible.  He read to them the Book of Ruth. The entire group was moved with noticeable appreciation of his story choice.  They inquired how they could have possibly over looked such a fine piece of Literature in their years of reading and research.  Mr. Franklin confided that his selection was from the Holy Scriptures and that they were worth their attention.  The Society of fellows tried to deflect their ignorance by saying they had assumed there was nothing in Scripture worth their attention.

Some like Franklin appreciate the genius of the Literature but miss the eternal truths that transform and sustain lives.  In the Scriptures you will learn of Christ the Way, the Truth, and the Life.  He has something of value in His Word that you need each day.  Those who read and study are the wiser and richer. One enriched student penned his appreciation this way.

When I prayerfully look in this precious old book,
 Much pleasure and treasure I see;
 Many tokens of love from a Father above,
 Who is nearest and dearest to me.

 This book is my guide, a friend at my side,
 It lightens and brightens my day;
 Each promise I find soothes and
 Gladdens my mind,
 As I read and heed it today.

The Bible can bring you to help and hope, to cleansing from guilt and shame, to right beliefs and honorable behavior, and to worthwhile purpose and lasting peace.  Read it; study it; believe and obey it!  Then share your great finds with others.  BBNBI is here to help you get more from your Bible.
