Left ashamed
|
A few years back I met one of our BBN supporters in one of the southern United States. She was a middle aged woman confined to a wheelchair. She lived in a modest assisted living apartment, and survived on a skinny social security check. She had a joyful spirit and shared the following radiant testimony with me of how God had enabled her to give to the Bible Broadcasting Network. “I felt a great desire and burden to share something with BBN. I didn’t know how I could possibly do it, but by faith I obligated myself to $5 a month in response to one of the Shareathons. I had no idea how I would be able to give this, though I knew it was so very little. Somehow by the end of the year I had kept my commitment each month. So before the next Shareathon I began to pray, ‘Lord I want to give more than $5.’ I had a desire to promise $20 dollars a month and it scared me. ‘Lord, how in the world will I ever be able to give $20 dollars a month?’ I felt that God wanted me to trust Him for it, so I called in my $20 dollar promise to the Shareathon. Before the month was out I received a notice from the Social Security Administration that I would be receiving a $26 a month increase in my monthly check. ‘Isn’t God faithful, and I have $6 a month to use on other things I need.’"
I left her home encouraged and yet ashamed, such sacrificial giving and such humble faith in God!

Would you pray about investing in this ministry? The Scriptures instruct us: “Let him (her) that is taught in the word communicate (financially share) unto him that teaches all good things.” (Galatians 6:6) They also say, “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give unto your bosom. For with the measure that you mete withal it shall be measured again to you again.” (Luke 6:38) This Scripture is promising that God returns back to you in the same measure that you give to His causes, except, He adds His blessings.
