Beware!
The Enemy Lurks!
I definitely recall when I was first saved and came to know the Lord Jesus, I was certainly naive in many areas, and one of those areas was regarding the devil and his activity among believers. I seemed to fluctuate between giving him too much credit for the things that occurred in life, to not considering his activity enough. One thing is for certain however, and that is that we are called to seek to understand from Scripture the devices or strategies that Satan uses against us. Of course the key is to understand what the Word of God teaches concerning this. The Apostle, Paul, on one occasion told the Corinthian believers: “Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.” (2 Corinthians 2:11)
The Scriptures teach us all we need to know about our enemy the devil, or Satan. For example, he was originally known by the name of Lucifer, which means light bearer. God created an innumerable host of angelic beings, and Lucifer was one of those angelic beings. God created Lucifer to be able to reflect the glory of God greater than any other, but he left the place of the creature and sought to usurp the position of a creator. Ever since Lucifer fell and became Satan, he has been seeking to defeat the purpose of God in and through us as ambassadors of Christ. Satan, the deceiver and slanderer, wants us to replace God’s Word for our own human reasoning and therefore become essentially selfish beings like himself. Yet, we as believers don’t have to fall for his tricks and lies, we can rather believe and obey God’s Word and defeat his wicked purpose toward us! The BBN Bible Institute, www.BBNBI.org, offers (at no cost to you) a study of the enemy of our souls, Satan, and we would highly recommend it to you. The course, 10200 The Doctrine Of Satan, is taught by Dr. Dwight Pentecost, who admitted that he began this study himself with oppression of spirit due to the desire of the evil one to keep believers from learning what God’s Word teaches concerning him. May the Lord bless you as you study his Word, and by all means if the study blesses you, share it with a friend.
