It Can Be Done!
As we see the beginning of the little Book of Ruth we note almost as in passing the words, ...Now it came to pass in the days when the judges ruled… and we’re tempted to gloss right over them to the next phrase that tells us that there was a famine in the land. It is certainly important to the narrative to know that there was a famine in Bethlehem, but it is equally important to know when this all occurred. The reason we mention this is because there was likely no more wicked and sinful time in all of Israel’s history than the period of the Judges, and to verify this, all one needs to do is read the final 5 chapters (you may even find this shocking to your senses, even in the sinful times in which we now live). Yet we see this delightful story of Ruth right in the center of all this! Also, there is likely no clearer picture and pointer to the coming of Christ than in this Book as well, and in this we find the secret! If we wonder if there is any hope for our dark and sinful day, we only need to look to our wonderful Savior who also came during a time of spiritual darkness.
In our Bible Institute you’ll find a delightful free Bible study of Ruth, course 40900, give it a look, and then share this news with your friends.
