“WHAT’S MISSING?”

In recent days the sentiment has been echoed by many, “Christmas just doesn’t seem like Christmas anymore.”

What’s missing?  Have things really changed that much?  Upon contemplating Scripture it seems apparent things really haven’t changed much since that first eve of Christ’s birth.  That night only a few were aware of His presence, only a few searched till they found Him in the busyness of Bethlehem.

Is it fair to say that most of us have yet to make Christmas day the day we truly celebrate Christ’s birth?  What’s missing in Christmas?  Christ!

Long ago people began to abbreviate the spelling of Christmas – “xmas.”  When Christ is left out, Christmas does become “xmas.”  And when there is “xmas" then there is worldly xcitement, xhibitions, xtravagances, xpenses, xchanges, xcuses, and xhaustion.

Let us set new traditions this year of having a Christmas in which Christ is prominent and preeminent!

“In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.”        (I John 4:9)

“Thanks be unto God for His unspeakable gift.”  (II Corinthians 9:15)

Merry CHRISTmas from all of us here at BBN and the Bible Institute!
